Scope of Course:
The target audience for this course would include OT, OTA, SLP, PT and PTA. This seminar provides an overview of program development for long-term care. Therapists will learn the steps for developing a program to address resident care needs in this environment. Through practical applicaiton, they will use QI and screen triggers to identify appropriate residents for each program, identify nursing and therapy documentaiton components to support skilled intervention, discuss the discharge planning process and evaluate current programs available for their residents. Participants will be exposed to multiple inter-disciplinary programs available to meet the needs of the long-term care resident along with detailed steps for implementation of these. Additionally, there will also be opportunity to practice goal writing and documentation as it applies to the long-term care setting. Group discussion and facilitaiton will be used to guage learning.
Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this seminar, participants will be
able to:
1. Discuss the role of the interdisciplinary team in program delivery 2. Identify 3 techniques to identify residents who require skilled rehabilitation treatment 3. State how to develop rehabilitation programs that address interdisciplinary resident therapeutic needs 4. Identify 3 examples of skilled treatment strategies consistent with the Advocacy Model of Care 5. Identify documentation that supports skilled, objective service delivery and clinical reasoning for medical necessity requirements 6. Identify and describe a clinical outcome system intended to demonstrate successful program implementation 7. State at least 2 rehabilitation billing requirements for Medicare Part B patients
