Scope of Course:
This seminar reviews the systems involved in balance and facilitates the clinician's ability to identify patients at risk for falling as well as evaluating, developing comprehensive treatment plans, appropriately documenting and billing therapy services. The focus will be on the use of objective measures along with treatment guidelines, exercise regimens, and movement strategies. Intended audience includes PT, PTA, OT, COTA.
Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this seminar, participants will be
able to:
1. Evaluate patients with balance issues and identify their individual treatment needs 2. Choose appropriate standardized test(s) to evaluate balance deficits and fall risk 3. Implement appropriate treatment interventions to improve balance 4. Define a fall 5. State at least five risk factors for falls in elderly and identify ways ot reduce the number of falls 6. Document and bill appropriately for services provided
